Overview
Barrister
Abdul completed his pupillage with 25 Canada Square Chambers. Abdul has experience in all of Chambers’ core practice areas, including Civil Litigation, Lender Services, Insurance Services, Personal Injury, Housing and Insolvency. He gained a significant level of experience during pupillage in work arising from Consumer Credit claims involving undisclosed commission and unfair relationships.
Abdul previously worked as an advocate regularly attending the County Court, building strong relationships with instructing solicitors and lay clients. Prior to this, Abdul worked for the Transport Infrastructure Planning Unit at the Department of Transport where he was responsible for managing planning consent applications brought pursuant to the Transport and Works Act 1992 and the Planning Act 2008. This work involved providing advice to the Secretary of State for Transport as to the merits and issues presented by nationally significant proposed infrastructure schemes. Abdul remains interested in Planning and Public Law and continues to stay up to date with developments in these areas.
He is also a regular contributor of articles to Chambers’ website. Recent articles written by him include:
- An analysis of the Court of Appeal’s judgment in Kenig v Thomson Snell & Passmore LLP
- A SWOT analysis of the potential for artificial intelligence in law
- A consideration of whether a fiduciary duty arises in the context of motor finance transactions
In his spare time, Abdul enjoys reading classics, going to the theatre, fine-dining and listening to classical compositions. He also engages in philanthropic work and is the treasurer of Bridging the Bar, a charity that supports aspiring barristers from underrepresented groups.
Abdul welcomes instructions across all of Chambers’ practice areas.
